I do not remember how was my reporting day in FMC PD on 2 Jan 1959. For sure, my parents did not sent me. I was given a rly warrant for my trip to Seremban frm Teluk Anson. It was for a 2nd class coach with berth. First time travelling on 2nd Class coach with berth. On d train, met a few others also going to FMC PD. Met them earlier during d interview in FMC.
Train arrived KL in d early morning. There was an Army reception centre where we were given breakfast.
At 0900 hrs we took d day train going to JB n disembarked in Seremban Rly Stn. There a Kpl was waiting to receive us. D trip to FMC PD was by d 3-Tonner. A rough hour + ride along d old winding narrow Seremban-PD road.
Can’t remember what happened after we arrived in FMC PD. But for sure, when I reported to my F Coy barrack, d senior Budak Boys were waiting n barking at each one of us. Hence d start of d 6- week or so, of d ragging period. Detailed story to follow ….
We wish d new Form IV Puteras a happy n successful stay in RMC n “to take their places as officers in d Armed Forces, in d higher divisions of d Public Service n as leaders in d professional, commercial n industrial life of d country”.
We wish d RMC Comdt, supported by d DoS, d staff n teachers in RMC all d success in taking care of d new Puteras n in making RMC home for future leaders with excellence! – OP NMD
